Wolves Vs. Ipswich - Pre-match build-up and Prediction

Last updated : 22 August 2008 By Gary Brookhouse

The last time Wolves and Ipswich met was at Molineux. With Wolves winning 1-0, injury time had finished and Ipswich got a free kick on the edge of the area and scored to make it 1-1. This sent the Ipswich fans home happy. If the referee had of blown for full time when it should have been blown, Wolves would have won that game and would have been in the play-offs.

Last time Wolves beat Ipswich was in 2006/07 season, when we accomplished the double over them. This season I will be hoping Wolves can do the same again, but first we have got to win tomorrow's game.

The referee for tomorrow's game is Steve Tanner from Somerset. The only game he has refereed this season is Gillingham vs. Luton Town where 4 players were booked. Last season he refereed the home game against Burnley, where Wolves lost 3-2 and also got a penalty in this game and scored. But it really doesn't matter who the referee is, as long as we get a decent referee for once.

Ipswich will be looking to secure their first home win of the season, having lost their first home league game to Preston North End. Ipswich will also be looking to continue their home form from last season, with Ipswich only losing one game in a whole season at home and winning more games at home than anyone else in the league. But yet it was their away form that let them down last season by only winning 3 games.

At the moment Wolves are currently in 4th position and Ipswich Town are in 10th place, with only one point separating the two sides. This will be a tough game for Wolves and I hope we can come away with all three points.

So far Wolves have sold 1,130 tickets, but with only 1 more day to go until the match there will only be a few more tickets sold. Last season we sold about 1,400-1,500 tickets, but why so much of a poor turn out with Wolves 4th in the league and was 5th last time we met at Portman Road last year.

Now it is only our second away game of the season, with having to travel Plymouth the week before last taking 2,600 fans and it just makes you wonder?

Match Prediction: Ipswich Town 1-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
