Man of the Match: Iwelumo

Wolves started the game off poorly, with Jody Craddock coming off after 7 minutes, when picking up an injury. So Neil Collins replaces him who had a terrible game, as he was his fault for the goal that we conceded.

At the point of conceding that goal, I thought to myself that we were going to have a terrible game. Then 15 minutes later Big Chris strikes and brings the match back onto level terms to make it 1-1.

Leon Clarke came on for Sheffield Wednesday and got plenty verbal abuse from the Wolves fans, with songs like "Where were you at Molineux" plus more that cannot be repeated. Leon's performance was poor anyway, but looked like he wanted to prove a point to Wolves, but he failed to make any impact at all.

We didn't play brilliant in the first half, but I was happy that we was not loosing. But once the second half began we was beginning to dominate the game and 10 minutes into the second half Matt Jarvis who has been running riot on the wing, got brought down in the penalty area and it was defiant penalty. Iwelumo is standing on the penalty spot looking like he is going to take it, but no Ebanks-Blake has got the ball and putting the ball on the spot. Ebanks-Blake fires it down the middle slightly to his right and puts Wolves in the lead to make it 2-1.

Wolves were now on fire and just 5 minutes after the penalty, Iwelumo fires again to put us in a more comfortable lead by making it 3-1. It could have been more but Sheffield Wednesday started to make substitutes to try and stop them from conceding any more goals.

The board went up for injury time and just 1 minute later, it is David Edwards putting away another goal, to make it look like it was a very comfortable win. The final whistle went and it finished Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 Sheffield Wednesday.

Last week it was Sheffield Wednesday who beat Burnley 4-1 and now it is the total opposite for them, with them losing with the same score. For Wolves last week we drawn 2-2 away against Plymouth Argyle with a much better performance this week than the last.

Wolves are now currently in 4th place in the Championship with just 2 points away from the top 3 joint leaders, who are Birmingham City, Preston North End and Coventry City. But league places don't mean anything when the season has only just started, as you only have to look at Sheffield Wednesday who were top of the league going into the Wolves game and now they are in 13th place.

Next game is away at Ipswich Town at Portman Road, where last season they only lost only one game at home. But even though they lost their first game at home it will still be a tough trip as it always is against Ipswich.
