Preston Vs Wolves Prediction

Wolves came out of the Crewe game last week on a high after completing a comfortable 4 – 1 victory at Gresty Road.

Crewe have been on a poor run of form recently, without a win in 10, and Wolves took full advantage.

Following the win at Crewe reports suggested that Glenn Hoddle’s future as manager at Wolves was in doubt with midfielder Paul Ince being tipped as a possible successor.

Ince however, publicly quashed these rumours, stating that Hoddle has his full support. “I was very disappointed by the reports,” said Ince. “I'm 100 per cent behind the gaffer and I want to play for him. We go back a long way and we've had a lot of good times together.”

Jez Moxey and Rick Hayward have been discussing the “key issue” that is Hoddle’s future. Supporters will be pleased with this progress, the next question: Will Hoddle leave or stay? Your guess is as good as mine…

As good as the win was against Dario Gradi’s side, Wolves must not go into this weekends game against Preston too complacent. It would be a big mistake to under-estimate Billy Davies’ side who have been formidable at home all season.

Wolves will need to be at their best with the likes of Lescott, Craddock, Cort, Miller and Seol remaining as consistent as they have been in the past few games.

These are the integral and influential players, if they have a good game, Wolves could get a result at Deepdale. They all looked different class last Saturday, and I expect all of them to start against Preston.

The home side still have a goalkeeping problem, with Andy Lonergan out, and reserve goalkeeper Adam Ward also doubtful for the game but they will go into the game on the back of a stunning 2 – 1 away win at West Ham last weekend... Can Wolves stop them?

The reverse fixture earlier in the season finished 2 – 2, with Wolves extremely lucky to salvage anything at all from the game at The Molineux.

Preston have only lost once in the last 10 games although Wolves, despite a succession of draws, have only lost once in the last 10 games too… so something has to give in this match-up?

My guess is that Wolves will gain a point at Deepdale.

Prediction: 1 - 1
