McCarthy on injury hope

Wolves' best players will have to keep clear of injury for the team to progress this season, according to Mick McCarthy.

With the transfer window set to close in less than a fortnight, speculation is rife that McCarthy could add to his squad before the end of the month, with a defensive midfielder thought to be an option.

Wolves have so far added just two new faces to their squad this summer, sealing a permanent deal for former loan star Jamie O'Hara and capturing defender Roger Johnson from Birmingham.

McCarthy though appears happy enough with his squad, even if he fails to bring in anyone else before the window closes.Speaking to the Express and Star, the manager stated:"We've got two players in every position who can play in the Premier League.

We need that competition."The ones on the bench are just as important because they have to play if anyone gets injured. But it's important to keep our best players - it's vital they are fit."
