The 25-year-old played the second half of Saturday's 2-1 pre-season defeat to Crewe but he wasn't too down after the match as he was just pleased to be back on the field again.

"It's been a tough two years," he told sportinglife.com.

"I've had a good off-season, a good two weeks of pre-season and 45 minutes today. I feel like my fitness is getting there.

"It's the worst thing in the world being injured, especially when you don't know when you will come back and you can't set yourself any targets.

"It's very frustrating and at times you doubt whether you are going to get back.

"Thankfully I've come through it and the club have been different class with me and hopefully we can look forward now."

Kightly was a key member of the Wolves squad that won the Championship in the 2008/09 campaign and he is sure he can return to top form in the Premier League.

He added: "I obviously haven't played too much in the last two years but before that I was a regular in the team and I want to get back to that form I showed in the Championship winning season."
