Wolves winger Michael Kightly is set to return to training next week after 15 months out with knee problems which have required two operations. The 25-year-old has not played for Wolves since November 2009 and manager Mick McCarthy said he could be sent out on loan to recover his fitness.

"It's been a long time and it will be a massive boost to him," said McCarthy.

"If he has to go out for a month so be it, then maybe come back for six or seven games for us. But we will see."

Wolves signed Kightly on a

permanent deal from non-league Grays Athletic

in January 2007 after a loan spell at Molineux and was one of the stand-out players in their promotion season of 2008-09.

But last season he managed only 10 appearances before being sidelined initially by an ankle problem, and then a string of knee injuries.

His last appearance for Wolves was their

1-0 defeat at home to Birmingham

on 29 November 2009.
