Close but Not There Yet

The gaffer said on the official site "It was a brilliant result and it is significant, of course it is. It is points that will keep us in the league and we have just got seven from three tough away games. If anybody else can put that run together, good luck to them. But we can't take the foot off the gas. We've got Everton at home on Saturday and need more points from that.

"Have I got a points target? Yes, get more than at least three others and we've not sewn anything up yet, but this could go a long way to helping out. I try my best not to use the six-pointer cliche and let other people use it. But it was a vital win for us in terms of us concertina-ing the teams above us a little more and doing real damage to West Ham. I think Burnley and Hull were thinking about catching us and might be thinking more about Wigan and West Ham now.

"We're not there yet, but we're getting closer."

Workaholic and scorer of the first goal Kevin Doyle added "If we are going to stay up, we still need a couple of wins. The last ten days has made a huge difference, but we have to keep working. "Despite a couple of changes tonight the manager has kept the same team the past few games and it has helped us".

"We have had the same system and it has been effective when coming away from home where we can hit teams on the break. We was confident coming into the match, but once the first goal went in, it was even higher, The two quick goals in the second half seemed to kill them off, and it capped off
a great performance."
