Two-goal Michael Tonge turned up the heat on Wolves manager Dave Jones as Sheffield United raced to a stunning win at Molineux.

The brace from teenager Tonge and a strike from Wayne Allison condemned Wolves to their sixth defeat in eight games.

United's success was even more impressive as they had to do it from a goal behind after an own goal from Rob Ullathorne had given Wolves the lead.

The three goals United scored took to 20 in nine games the number Wolves have conceded.

Wolves have also collected just four points from the last 21 on offer.

Wolves were fortunate to take the lead through Ullathorne's error as United had looked the more threatening before the own goal.

Tonge had seen an earlier shot saved by Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray while Michael Boulding saw his drive deflected just wide.

Wolves had rarely been seen as an attacking force before Ullathorne made his untimely intervention.

Striker George Ndah, who had Wolves one chance of note before the goal when his header was tipped over the bar by Paddy Kenny, drilled in a low drive that Ullathorne deflected into his own goal from six yards.

It was tough on United, but they deservedly drew level after a spell of sustained pressure at the end of the first half.

Murray saved Wolves in the first instance with a double stop from first Michael Brown and then Peter Ndlovu when he turned the Zimbabwean international's follow-up shot around the post for a corner.

But United's persistence was rewarded in first-half stoppage time when Boulding's low drive into the area was drilled home by Tonge through a crowded goalmouth.

Wolves never recovered from that setback and their fate was sealed by a two goal blast in the space of just 120 seconds at the start of the second half.

Ullathorne made amends for his earlier error when he lifted over a 48th minute cross for Allison to powerfully head past Murray from six yards.

Wolves were still reeling from that setback when Tonge completed his brace with a stunning 18-yard volley after United skipper Robert Page had lifted a free-kick into the area
