Joao Teixeira hits two as Wolves beat Brentford
Wolves winger Joao Teixeira struck twice to help earn a 3-1 Sky Bet Championship win over Brentford at Molineux.
Teixeira, who is on a season-long loan from Benfica, opened the scoring in the 47th minute and then doubled Wolves advantage 10 minutes as Walter Zenga's side earned back-to-back league wins following last weekend's success at Newcastle.
Brentford had given themselves hope of salvaging something from the match when on-loan Crystal Palace winger Sully KaiKai scored his first goal for the club after 67 minutes.
But a stoppage-time strike from substitute Ivan Cavaleiro - his first since arriving from Monaco in a club record B#7million move - ended their comeback hopes as their four game unbeaten run came to an end.
Brentford had been denied an early breakthrough in the sixth minute by the reflexes of Wolves' goalkeeper Carl Ikeme.
Lewis MacLeod did well to collect the ball and he rolled a pass into the path of the on-rushing Scott Hogan.
Hogan let fly with a fierce shot from 12 yards that looked destined to fly in at the near post.
But the alert Ikeme threw out his left hand and tipped the ball around the post for a corner.
Having survived that early scare, Wolves were left frustrated themselves after 24 minutes when their claims for a penalty were rejected.
Teixeira weaved his way into the penalty area before going down under challenge from Maxime Colin.
Wolves were convinced that Teixeira had been fouled but referee Andy Davies waved away their appeals.
Teixeira was proving to be a real handful for Colin and the French full-back earned himself a booking in the 35th minute following his crude attempt to stop the tricky Portuguese winger.
But there was nothing that Colin and his Brentford team-mates could do when Teixeira gave Wolves the lead.
After Josh McEachran had lost the ball in the centre of the pitch, on-loan Monaco forward Helder Costa powered down the right-wing.
His pass was perfectly placed for Teixeira who steadied himself before rolling the ball under goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.
Having set-up Teixeira, Costa had a hand in his second as well - drawing a free-kick from Ryan Woods on the left-wing after Jon Dadi Bodvarsson had shown great persistence to keep the ball.
Teixeira looked like he was shaping to deliver a cross but his free-kick deceived everyone - including Bentley whose despairing dive failed to stop the ball curling in at his far post.
Wolves looked to be cruising to a comfortable victory, but Brentford grabbed a lifeline through on-loan Crystal Palace forward KaiKai.
He was left in acres of space at the far post and when Nico Yennaris picked him out, KaiKai's rising drive from 12 yards proved to be too hot to handle for Ikeme.
Brentford made a determined bid to find an equaliser but in pushing forward they left space at the back that Bodvarsson exploited.
He won the ball on the halfway line before unselfishly rolling a pass into the path of Cavaleiro who fired into an empty net with Bentley out of position.
