Ebanks-Landell leads the way

Ethan Ebanks-Landell scored his first senior goal for Wolves as they moved to the top of Sky Bet League One with a 1-0 win at Notts County.

The young full-back struck with 14 minutes to go as Kenny Jackett's men capitalised on Leyton Orient's slip-up against Preston.

Shaun Derry's nightmare start in management continued with a third successive defeat since taking overas County boss from Chris Kiwomya.

A massive 26 points separated second-placed Wolves from rock-bottom County ahead of the match.

Magpies' keeper Bartosz Bialkowski delayed the inevitable by with fine saves to deny Jake Cassidy, James Henry and Leigh Griffiths.

But Ebanks-Landell, making just his 30th appearance in senior football and only his fourth for Wolves, showed the front men how to finish in the 76th minute.

Henry's cross dropped at the feet of the 20-year-old and the Molineux academy graduate, re-signed from Bury during the close season, fired skilfully beneath Bialkowski with his left foot from 12 yards.

Dave Edwards missed a clear-cut chance to seal it for the visitors five minutes from time when his effort clipped the post, but Wolves held on to extend their unbeaten run to nine leagues matches.
