Tough quarter-final draw for the Wolves.

Well it could have been better, it couldn’t have been much worse.

Southampton away was the disappointing fate that awaits us after the Cup win over Rochdale.

I think that if the game had been at Molineux we would have had an excellent chance but away it looks mission impossible.

The Saints have shown themselves to be a much improved this team under Gordon Strachan.

They eventually broke down the Norwich resistance on Saturday and they are the sort of team that have pace and skill from defence to the forwards.

With the game guaranteed to be screened live, it remains to be seen if Wolves will take the approximate 4,000+ tickets that should be available under cup rules.

With Arsenal in Europe on Tuesday, they’ll take an early slot on Saturday. Sheffield United v Leeds will be given an early Sunday berth to stop drinking before the game.

That leaves a potential early evening kick-off Saturday or a 4.00 p.m. start on Sunday up for grabs.

Given that I live in Stockport at least the Saturday option gives me the chance to stay overnight!

Dave Jones will go back to his former club for the first time since his acrimonious departure. However, don’t hold your breath that he’ll get any revenge on his former employees.

When it’s all over we can concentrate on the serious business of finishing 7th in the league ;-)

Come on the Wolves!
