Potential play-off rehearsal at the City ground tonight.

Scenario:

Wolves are in 5th position just 1 point behind Forest who have a game in hand on us.

If the positions stay as they are to the end of the season then this could be one of the legs in the play-off semi-finals.

Therefore, as well as the result being important there could also be a psychological advantage to be gained by one of the teams.

Last season we got a 2-2 draw there, which, in my opinion, started the slippery slope to 3rd. We were 1-0 up playing 10-men, due to injury and failed to kill Forest off.

What about the opposition?

At home this season we mugged Forest for a 2-1 win. They played some excellent football and it’s no surprise they are where they are.

They lost 1-0 at Leicester on Tuesday but apart from that they’ve been playing really well recently.

Forest, unlike ourselves, have an excellent home record. Winning 13 of their 20 games and losing just two. As well as that they are one of the few teams to rival us for goal difference.

They’ve also amassed 50 goals at home so we can expect them to come at us from the start.

Key man is David Johnson who is the division’s top scorer with 22 goals. As well they have Darren Huckerby on loan, so they won’t be short of pace up front so that should test our impressive recent defensive record.

Not only that but Marlon Harewood has also contributed 20 goals as well!!

At the back they have the highly rated Michael Dawson who plays in a very mean defence.

The more I think about this, the worse it gets!

Soon to follow for Wolves:

Millwall at home on Easter Saturday followed by a vital trip to Norwich on the Monday, once again live on Sky.

Score Prediction:

I think we are going to have to play, to a man, at the top of our game to get anything from this one.

I was at Grimsby and we were dire in terms of play and invention. We were fortunate that Grimsby were worse!

However, we are meeting one of the best teams in the league, in terms of flair, and Paul Hart will want to put one over on us.

With the possible recall of Newton, I fear we will have too many ‘hiders’ in the team to be able to stem the tide from Forest.

We do have the third best current form in the league, higher than Forest, but this is a real acid test.

We might have a better idea of our ‘realistic’ chances of promotion at 9.40 this evening.

Fingers crossed!

Come on the Wolves!
