Mariners in town on Saturday.

Last updated : 24 October 2002 By Dave Burgess

Scenario:

Wolves possibly back on track after the 2-0 win at Stoke.

Grimsby battling hard to stay in the Division in 23rd.

The sort of home banker that never is.

What about the opposition?

Grimsby – not the most attractive game of the season.

However, Wolves seem to invariably struggle to beat Grimsby and therefore fans have a certain amount of trepidation about the fixture.

Grimsby seem to have the knack of making life difficult for teams that are, on paper, much better than them.

Last season we suffered a damaging 1-0 home defeat in March. There was a double blow in that it ended Mark Kennedy’s run in the team from which we still haven’t seen him return.

This season Grimsby are where they are expected to be – in the relegation places. However, they managed to hold out for a 0-0 draw with 9 men on Saturday so they won’t roll over.

They have won away from Blundell Park at Brighton and do have some battling players who will try and stop Wolves playing.

Soon to follow:

Gillingham and Watford away – stern tests of anyone’s promotion credentials.

Score Prediction:

Who knows at the moment?

Signs of encouragement at Stoke, the return to form of several players, long-term injuries clearing up and fresh talent getting their chance to shine.

I think Wolves will prevail but I’m sure it will be close. Although Grimsby might lose they don’t lose generally by a big margin.

1-0 to Wolves.

Come on the Wolves!
