Is Saturday a potential play-off final rehearsal at Bramhall Lane?

Scenario:

Wolves and Sheffield United are already assured of a play-off spot.

It’s seems very likely that Reading and Forest will complete the four teams that are going to battle it out to get into the Premiership.

However, the exact semi-final line up is still to be determined.

I think that a draw tomorrow will see us ending up in 5th place and a semi-final match up with Reading.

Sheffield United will finish 3rd and play Forest in the other match to determine who goes forward to Cardiff.

What about the opposition?

Sheffield United murdered us at Molineux earlier this season.

The 3-1 scoreline was flattering. After going behind to an own goal they stepped up the tempo and took the game from midfield.

Very impressive that day were the two Michael’s, Tonge and Brown.

However, this defeat did come in our worst spell of the season so I don’t expect the same result tomorrow.

United’s form in recent weeks has been patchy. Defeats at Wimbledon and Preston were surprising. However, they’ve reached both cup semi-finals so they do have something about them.

Add to this that Carl Asaba is now back from injury and they have an experienced and awkward team to play against.

Add to this that we know Warnock hates us, and they’ll be fired up to put one over on us.

Soon to follow for Wolves:

Last game of the season at home to Leicester. They’ll want revenge for the 4-1 cup hammering and may still have a chance of the Championship.

Even more reason to beat them.

Score Prediction:

I reckon a hard fought draw.

Both teams won’t want to lose and with our last 2 performances being amongst our best all season we will continue where we left off at Carrow Road.

The defence is in fine form and we are once again scoring for fun.

Unlike last season, we are heading towards the end of season in a rich vein of form.

Also the players will want to ensure that they beat off the competion to get a starting place for the play-off matches so they’ll be fired up to give it 100%.

1-1.

Come on the Wolves!
