Interest in and from Iversen.

First it was a link to Rebrov, but now it seems we have made a ‘real’ bid to sign Steffen Iversen from Spurs.

We, the fans, know that the current crop of forwards don’t really have the extra qualities to succeed at the top level in the game. Therefore, we’ve been waiting in anticipation to see who Jones would target.

However, I personally have mixed feelings about Iversen. Sure, he’s an international but there have to be question marks over his ability to stay injury free.

His goalscoring record is not too bad considering with 36 league goals from 112 appearances. He’s also a lot taller than I realised at 6ft 1”.

But I don’t see him as the man to lead the line as he’s always struck me as the foil and we already have Kenny Miller for that role.

With Spurs having signed Bobby Zamora, Iversen must know that his days are numbered at White Hart Lane. However, are we going to enter into another M’Bemi saga with a player touting his availability to get ‘more established’ clubs to approach him?

I appreciate you can’t suppress a player from publicly announcing their thoughts but Wolves this time round have said nothing about the talks. On the club website yesterday we had a bizarre and cryptic link to newspaper gossip about Iversen rather than an official statement.

We’ll see how serious Iversen is about the move in the coming days.

No major loss if someone else comes in for him first though..
