Hayward wants to jump ship

We all thought that Sir Jack was a shrewd businessman – apparently not.

Our rich benefactor has announced his intention to hand over the reigns and control of the club to any local consortium to carry on when he leaves.

He must have had this decision on his mind over the summer – we can see evidence of it with the lack of funds that Dave Jones has been given.

However, if he knew he was going to do this, why didn’t he do it in the summer? Not a real ‘hot’ prospect a team propping up the Premiership looking pretty good candidates to return to Division 1 if you are going to invest.

As to where this consortium is going to come from, well I’ve no idea. Sure Sir Jack has offered to waive the quoted £40 million pounds the club owes him but running a Premiership football club isn’t cheap.

We’ve seen the likes of
Derby, Coventry, Bradford and Sheffield Wednesday nearly go to the wall after leaving the top flight.

You’re talking some serious dosh to stabilize a club that is already suffering from a lack of investment.

I think this latest move, coupled with the poor start to the season, is going to see Sir Jack finally leave the Molineux with mixed opinions from the fans. Already last week there were mutterings of discontent about the man from the
Bahamas. Now we know what’s happening I think most will see in him in a different light.

Football fans are very fickle people with short memories.

We won’t remember the crumbling stadium and lower division team teetering on the brink of collapse. Instead we’ll see a team bottom of the Premiership, being outclassed nearly every game and think ‘That Sir Jack what a …’

His name will be forever synonymous with Wolves however, I doubt he’ll be remembered with the same affection as Steve Bull, perhaps we’ll have to name a stand after the old man.
