Can Miller make the magic number of 8?

Last updated : 25 February 2003 By Dave Burgess

Scenario:

Wolves still hold sixth place, this could be taken by Norwich who have a game in hand and play at Gillingham tonight.

Watford lie in 10th position having suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Walsall at the weekend.

What about the opposition?

Wolves were very fortunate to get a point from the fixture at Vicarage Road. A last minute Kevin Cooper denying the home side all three points, which, apparently they deserved.

Watford however, do not travel well having lost 10 of their 16 games on the road having scored just 10 goals.

Add to this that main man Tommy Smith is out injured and Wolves’s chances seem to be good.

This leaves
Heidar Helguson as the main threat to the Wolves defence.

Neil Cox, always a tough opponent returns to the Watford side.

However, there is a mixture of experience and youth in the Watford side so expect them to give it a real go tonight. They’ll be looking at the three points as hungrily as our Wolves.

Soon to follow for Wolves:

Palace at home on Saturday – always a tricky tie.

The Ipswich return game Wednesday week at the Molineux.

Score Prediction:

Well predicting defeats at Ipswich and Preston has worked a treat so I’ll continue in this vein and say we are in for a spanking ;-)

Can Miller make the magic eight goals?

Well a home fixture always gives you a chance – would he take a penalty if we got one? Well after the miss earlier in the season from the spot – hopefully, not!

Well there is no doubt that there are goals in the Wolves team.

Personally I’d like to see Jones employ an orthodox right midfielder.

Combating the midfield on our travels is one thing but I don’t expect Watford to come and attack us.

Rather they’ll aim to soak up Wolves pressure and hit us on the counter. Therefore, more attacking options will be required to break down the Watford.

With Cameron looking to be fit enough to play it remains to be seen whether Jones starts with the same team as at Preston.

However, with our forwards in red-hot form I’m sure we can get the goals we require to continue our recent good form.

Enjoy the match.

Come on the Wolves!
