Blues defeat means there is a chink in their armour

Birmingham, the next visitors to the Molineux on Saturday, suffered a surprise 2-1 reverse at home to Charlton on Monday night.

Having previously had the meanest defence in the league, this is an encouraging sign ahead of the first home local derby this weekend.

And it was two set peices from corners that were to be their downfall. However, the Blues did have their fare number of chances to get at least a point but found Dean Kiely in inspired form.

With Wolves nursing several injuries, minor or otherwise, this week it gives hope that three points can be achieved before the cameras at lunchtime.

When we played them two seasons ago I wasn't impressed in either game by Birmingham. However, since promotion through the play-off final they've made exponential progress to be the top team in the Midlands.

Money seems to have been well spent by Steve Bruce who has lavished some big fees on the likes of David Dunn.

Wolves will already be looking to get more points to stay ahead of the three teams that are lying just behind us on eight points.

Already it seems unlikely that we will have top scorer, Colin Cameron, available. However, Wolves can plan for that contingency and hopefully work on the training ground as to how to contain and get in behind the Blues defence.

Last night's reserve game will have further boosted the fitness of Sparky and Newts with an eye to them both being included.

However, it seems that Ndah and Blake are once again going to be missing.
