Blake indiscipline costs Wolves 2 points.

In the pre-match build-up Dave Jones stated that Wolves wouldn’t slip up in our quest for the play-offs, it was rather ironic that a senior pro would effectively cost us 2 points.

Nathan Blake dismissed after 15 minutes for elbowing and now suspended for three of the remaining six matches.

I didn’t see it myself, except out the corner of my eye, but given the referee’s positioning at the time, there can be little doubt what went on.

The crowd in the South Bank, hurled abuse in the direction of the official but perhaps they should have directed their frustrations at the Welsh international instead.

A pointless gesture against a younger opponent, a real shocking lack of professionalism.

The match had started well. In fact Blake could have given us the lead as a great spin-turn took him clear of the defence but he seemed to hesitate in how to finish and hit across Pollit who saved quite easily.

After being reduced to 10 men it was always going to be tough.

With very little support for Miller we still remained on top but didn’t have the tempo to get in where it hurt. Newton went close with a deflected effort but Rotherham defended in numbers when Wolves built slowly from the back.

Rotherham did try to play open football rather than just come for the draw but they are an average team and didn’t really threaten. With the sun beating down and Wolves lacking any real pace it was like watching a pre-season friendly at times.

In the second half we lost Incey to injury, hopefully not for long, being replaced by an ineffective Rae.

We also surprisingly saw Miller withdrawn for Ndah, which was amazing considering how poor Newton had been from the minute he walked onto the pitch.

With Rotherham offering no threat I thought Jones would have gone with a 4-3-2 formation but he knows what he’s doing (apparently).

Ndah should have scored with a point blank header after an excellent cross from Kennedy but headed it straight at Pollit.

Deano later came on for Newton and won a penalty with what looked like a salmon like dive but I wasn’t complaining.

Then to the disbelief of at least me and my five mates, if not the entire 26,000, Cameron took the penalty.

I knew he would miss. He’d played well but he’s not a penalty taker. Why Deano didn’t take it we’ll never know. A typical midfielders attempt to place the ball was always going to be stopped if the keeper went the right way and, he did just that.

So 0-0.

Another home draw, perhaps Jones does his weekly pools coupon and marks our fixture with a ‘X’.

The only good news was that our nearest rivals had failed to take advantage. Forest beating Ipswich and Norwich once again proving fallible on their travels.

At least we are away in the next two fixtures.

Grimsby away has to be a victory regardless of our opponents need for points. Forest is going to be one hell of a battle, possibly a precursor to a play-off match.

If we can get three points tomorrow then we’ll have a 6-point lead which, we might just hang onto if we don’t get players sent off !

Come on the Wolves!
