Back On Track?

A good win away from home at Stoke, (which I sadly watched alone in a Lancashire Pub!) and then a comfortable 4-1 win against Grimsby at Molineux, but are we back on the promotion trail?

I personally think not yet, but back to back victories is certainly something to build on. We also have a game or two in hand over teams, which will help, but we face tough tests in our next three games.

We have Gillingham away this Tueday, who are never easy to beat at Priestfield, then Watford away and the rearranged fixture against top of the table Portsmouth is a week on Wednesday.

I would probably accept a point against Gillingham on Tuesday, but I'd hope for three points at Vicarage Road, and even though we are at home, the way Pompey are playing, I'd say a point would be acceptable in that game too.

We are definitely playing better. Murray is still solid as a rock and Mark Clyde who was playing only his second game in a Wolves shirt against Grimsby, played well and showed the desire to carry on despite having his head heavily bandaged after a clash of heads in the first half.

Butler, just likes Oakes could be finding himself sitting on the bench for quite some time if these two youngsters keep playing the way they are.

Irwin's free-kick was pure class and he seems be settling again after a run of poor form. Lescott is improving after a poor start to the season and Edworthy is settling in well, but still has room for improvement, which I am sure will come with time.

In the midfield, I think every supporter is glad to see Cameron back. Perhaps he didn't contribute with a goal on Saturday, but he has that effect on the team. It shows, because our poor run of form happened while he was out injured.

Rae, solid as usual, Newton still needs to find last season's form, but didn't have a bad game and despite criticising Ince a few weeks ago, since being handed the captainincy, he has proved that 'The Guv'nor' is back!

The former England man had a great game. He ran all over the pitch, tackled hard and even had a few chances, including the shot that set up Miller's goal, an overhead kick attempt and the audacious effort from his own half, which so nearly caught out Danny Coyne in the Grimsby goal. Well done Incey! Keep it going!

Up front, Miller and Blakey are moulding well and keeping Deano out. Nice to see Ndah getting on the scoresheet. He isn't the greatest player, but puts in the effort, which is always nice to see.

On a sidenote, Message to Deano: Forget the Dwight Yorke style chip on penalties! Just blast it in man!!

So what is in store for us on Tuesday?

The Monkey Man has got the Gills playing well. Ipswich may be going downhill but it is never easy to go to Portman Road and win 1-0.

It will be tough. If I remember correctly we won last season's encounter 3-2. A result of that nature would definitely suit me, but I think Gillingham have improved a lot sinced then and of course beat us at home in the FA Cup 3rd round last January.

I know I said I'd be happy with a draw, but a positive prediction has to be made:

I say 2-1 to Wolves. We'll probably go 1-0 down, but I think goals from Rae and Miller will gives us the three points!

Let's make it 3 in a row! C'mon Wolves!!
