Another striker set for a trial

Well we've now seen what Maris Verpakovskis can do but it seems we are now taking a look at Kilmarnock's young forward - Kris Boyd.

The 20 year old is due down for a three day trial before potentially returning across the border for his current club's next SPL Fixture at the weekend.

Jones's concentration on the forward positions tends to lead to the fact he's not happy with his current set of strikers. Adam Proudlock is once again rumoured to be going out on loan. How many times can this realistically happen? I doubt he's got what it takes the top level and this may be a way of paving a move with a modest transfer fee for the striker.

I think the signing or not of Maris Verpakovskis will depend on two things – firstly the fee involved and secondly Jones’s ability to ship out some of the existing strike force on a permanent basis. Under threat must be Sturridge and Proudlock with Ndah and Blake potentially available too at the right price.

Deano looks likely to start at Ewood Park due to being fit. Blake hasn’t gotten any match fitness and I doubt Camara will start up front. However, Jones may opt to play a 4-5-1 with Iversen ploughing a lone furrow.
