Dean Beckwith, a 24 year old defender, who has been a key to Hereford's successful push for promotion to League 2 and 1. But with his contract running out in the summer, it is doubtful that they will be able to keep him. According to unofficial club websites Dean has apparently got interest from Wolves, Stoke City and newly promoted Swansea City.

Dean's previous clubs are Gillingham (Trainee), Dagenham & Redbridge (on Loan) and Margate (on Loan).

He signed for Hereford in July 2005 and scored on his league debut in the 4-0 win over Scarborough. As the season progressed he became a first team regular at centre-back and scored the equaliser in the 2-2 draw at Grays Athletic, preserving Hereford's then unbeaten run in the Nationwide Conference (now renamed to Blue Square Premier). He signed a one year contract shortly after Hereford's play-off promotion to league 2. In the 2006/07 season Hereford finished 16th and was a key player to fight their relegation battle. On 4 July 2007 it was confirmed that he had signed a new one-year contract with Hereford. Dean started the 2007/08 season as first choice centre back, but a broken jaw meant he missed six matches, but since then he has regained his place in the side for Hereford United's successful push for promotion to League 1.

In total Dean has made over 100 appearances for Hereford and scoring 4 goals throughout those appearances.
