Wolverhampton V Walsall at Molineux Stadium - Match Preview

Edwards back for Wolves

Dave Edwards returns to Wolves' squad for the first of two local derbies this week as Walsall visit Molineux.

The midfielder has been sidelined since the opening day of the season having picked up a foot injury but is now fit to feature and in contention for a place in Kenny Jackett's matchday 18.

Otherwise, Jackett boasts an unchanged squad with skipper Sam Ricketts having overcome a slight knee injury to start in Saturday's 3-2 win over Swindon - Wanderers' fifth successive league victory and their sixth in all competitions having beaten Walsall on penalties in the JPT just two weeks ago.

Defender George Elokobi (hamstring) is now the only absentee as Wolves host their Black Country neighbours before the short trip to Shropshire this weekend to face Shrewsbury.

Walsall boss Dean Smith will be hard pushed to make many, if any, changes to his starting line-up for the short trip.

Smith recalled Craig Westcarr, Troy Hewitt and Sam Mantom in a new-look 4-1-4-1 formation for Saturday's 3-0 victory at Crewe - ending a five-match winless sequence.

Westcarr bagged a brace on his return while the three points were wrapped up by substitute James Baxendale, who could be pushing for a recall having been one of those dropped to be bench.

Reserve goalkeeper Shane Lewis (ankle) remains the only absentee as the Saddlers look to avenge their penalty shoot-out defeat to Wolves at Molineux in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy a mere two weeks ago.
