The Wolves winger has received his maiden international call-up to Fabio Capello's squad for this weekend's Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales in Cardiff.
"I was more speechless than anything, it was a fantastic feeling," he said.
"Training was good, short and sharp, I just wanted to get out and train and obviously get more comfortable."
Jarvis admitted he did not know any of his squad-mates before the session.
"I didn't really know any of them, it was kind of like having your first day of school again," he said. "But they made me feel welcome."
