Moxey states ‘Money will be made available”.

So Big Jezzie has announced that there will be money made available for team strengthening come January despite no one wanting to buy the club itself.

So the question now in most fans minds is ‘How much?’

With other ‘bigger’ teams stating that their respective cupboards are bare it seems a bold move on Wolves behalf. However, considering most fans consider we were far too frugal in the summer it may be a case of too little too late.

If we consider that both Proudlock & Ingimarrson have moved on since the start of the season for albeit nominal fees, the freeing of their moderate wages should, theoretically, be available to once again invest.

Of course, we don’t know how much Mrss Gudjonsson and Kachloul are adding to the wage bill. If the club is being run well, then surely extra money should be generated from increases from sponsorship, gate receipts and the like, to increase turnover.

So, if we have a spare million quid lying around, what can we do with it?

Could we even wheel and deal someone else out of the club to increase funds further? Well Deano, Coops, Melligan and Andrews wouldn’t be the biggest loss to the club if they went on their way to pastures new. However, given the wafer thin nature of the squad it seems unlikely that any personnel can be spared unless there is a remarkable upturn in the injury situation.

Given the possibility of losing Super Jo all season it would seem sensible to bring in another centre back to cover Butts and Craddock. Eventually one of them has to succumb to suspension or injury. The phantoms that are Luzhny and Okoronkwo seem destined never to play in a Premiership game for the Wolves so we need to get someone else in forth with.

We’ve also seen that having just two keepers causes problems. It seems Kameni is going to stay in France so there is the possibility of taking Marshall permanently from Ipswich if he does well. However, Marshall will have to trim his wage expectations, as he’s on a whopping amount at Portman Road, hence their desire to ship him off permanently.

Fortunately, we currently seem okay in the midfield department, given the additional rare appearances from the two loanees and Silas, the Portuguese man-child, supplementing the main quartet.

Up front we desperately lack a regular goal scorer. We’re unlikely to get anyone of any pedigree for such a moderate amount. Therefore, Steffan Iversen, now’s your time. To compound things we also lose Henri Camara to international duty for the African Nations cup throughout January.

Perhaps we can make use of the loan system like Bolton have done to great effect in recent seasons. But how many decent players are going to be available on loan their team is not doing so well themselves? Perhaps Man United will loan us Van Niestelrooy in return for Lee Naylor J

We look like we’re not going to be out of the Premiership survival equation come January so players will be tempted to come on board and prove their worth.

We now need Jones to show a lot of transfer market shrewdness. I feel he still owes us for the summer.
