Mick Rues Missed Chance

Speaking on the Wolves official site Wolves gaffer Mick McCarthy said "I think it's a missed opportunity, We put them under pressure but when we got the opportunity to play I don't think we had that bit of belief or devilment to crack a tough nut. "It's not just about having the ball, it's what you do with it. We should have a lot of the ball when they go down to ten men but we didn't do enough when we had it.

"I selected the team and we had a lot of players back in who haven't played for a while like Kevin, Sylvan, Jody and Kights. Maybe that played a part in us not having that extra bit of zip and pace to open them up and have an opportunity. But all those players have got some minutes out of it and are better served to play a part in the squad. The rest of the lads probably feel the same as me, just a bit flat and disappointed."

Sir Alex Ferguson said on the United official site "We're very pleased, "We kept our discipline and the players worked their socks off. It's a good result. I thought prior to the sending off Wolves were a handful. They played a lot of good one-twos in and around our box. They were a real threat. But after the sending off we were better organised, kept our shape well and managed to get a result."
