McCarthy Praise For Bothroyd

The strikers two goals against The Tigers helped Wolves climb back into the Championship play-off places.

"I do not want players knocking on my door and telling me they should play because other people are not doing well and having a tough time - players should not feed off other people's scraps," the Wolves boss said after the 3-1 win at Molineux.

"Instead, I want people knocking on my door and asking to play because they are doing so well themselves and want to make the position their own.

"Jay thought he should be playing, has been doing well in training and is looking as fit as he has ever done.

"He has come in today and scored two proper centre-forward's goals in the penalty box where, I have always said, he is as dangerous as anyone, rather than out on the left wing or on the right wing or trying to set things up from somewhere else.

"Jay has done really well and is trying to make that position his own after I started him today because I just felt, after hitting the dizzy heights, Stephen Ward had plateaued."
