McCarthy expects fight to go the distance

Wolves moved out of the bottom three after Saturday's 4-0 home victory over Blackpool. McCarthy believes Wolves have a better squad than last season when they finished 15th on their return to the top flight.

But McCarthy is braced for the fight to stay up to go through to May given the series of unexpected results this season and so many teams divided by only a handful of points.

McCarthy said: "I still think we will get out of it, I still think we will get enough points. I do think we have got a strong squad. I think we're a better team than last season - but the Premier League is stronger.

"It's been a strange season because there have been good results for the lower teams against the top teams. Looking at the league at the moment, I think there is no doubt it will go right to the last game of the season.

"I would hope that is going to be the case because I can't imagine us getting out of it in the next five games. It is going to take all the 10 games - and it's the same with all the teams."
