Late goals wont scar players - McCarthy

The Barclays Premier League's bottom side suffered more last-gasp heartbreak in the 1-1 draw with local rivals West Brom at the Hawthorns last weekend as Carlos Vela left it late to equalise for the hosts.

That result followed similar scenarios against Fulham, Bolton and Manchester United, but McCarthy is adamant that worrying trend will not weigh on his players during Saturday's home clash with Blackpool.

He said: "I can think of five points we've lost without even drawing breath - Manchester United, Fulham, Bolton, West Brom straight away. Had we not conceded those, we would be sat now on 30 points.

"I know every team can say things like that, whether it's by performances or bad decisions, but there are five points that should be in the bag.

"It's not just concentration, or just one thing that's happened, but that's certainly cost us. The players aren't getting scarred by it, though."
