Wolves Squad Star In Re-Make of 'Jekyll & Hyde'!

Last updated : 25 September 2002 By Steve Hermon
Wolves completed an amazing 'Jekyll & Hyde' transformation when they went from bad to good, as they ended a poor run of three defeats in a row, by beating Preston 4-0!

I wonder if that would make a good movie?

Scene One...

5:45pm on a dull Saturday evening. Wolves have lost 1-0 to Reading, a team just promoted from Division Two, who are languishing in mid-table and Wolves put on their worst performance for a long time, as they slipped to a third successive league defeat.

None of the ten outfield players deserved any applause from the audience, as they left the field, with their heads down, dejected by their poor run of form and accompanied by a chorus of boos.

The star was Matt Murray, the keeper, who put on a commanding performance, on his home debut but all the others were villains.

Captain, Paul Butler, who was made a scapegoat by the fans, for his team mates poor performances, as well as his own, was substituted in the second half. He was subject to a lot of abuse and he immediately ran down the tunnel, glum-faced at the reception he was given.

The media attention was focused on that substitution, rather than the fact that the team had lost for a third time in a row.

That attention would continue right up until the night of their next game against Preston North End the Tuesday after, but that is when the transformation from bad to good began...

Scene Two...

7:40pm and Wolves explode on to the scene surrounded by fireworks, as they prepare to face Preston North End.

There were some changes made to the previous starting line-up. Blake came back in for Ndah, who didn't continue his cameo role up front and wasn't even on the bench. Ingimarsson was surprisingly dropped for Kevin Cooper and perhaps to appease the fans, Ludovic Pollet was included on the bench, but Captain, Paul Butler remained in the line-up.

7:45pm and the game kicks off.

Wolves are playing much better. Their passing, tackling, distribution of the ball and overall team work is good and they are rewarded for their transformation of bad to good with a goal from Nathan Blake on 23 minutes.

Dean Sturridge increased Wolves' lead on the stroke of half time. A top class turn by Deano gave him a clear shot at goal and he put Wolves 2-0 up.

Matt Murray was again showing a five star performance and he made some crucial saves in the first half that a Premiership goalkeeper would find difficult to keep out.

The half time whistle blew and Wolves went in on a high, playing well and they came back out for the second half playing just as good, if not better.

Preston had a few really good chances to get back in to the game, but the tall and strong Murray could not beaten.

Then came the dramatic and exciting finish, as Wolves scored two in two minutes, when Nathan Blake bagged his second goal of the game and Kenny Miller scored his first goal at Molineux to make it 4-0!

Every player played a good role, but the stars were Nathan Blake and Matt Murray.

Final Score: Wolves 4 Preston 0

The End!

OK, It may not become a box office smash, but it had all the qualities of a good movie...

It had Drama, Excitement, Action, a Love-Hate Relationship and even an explosive entrance to Scene Two, but most of all it had a very happy ending!

It is rumoured that another movie is in pre-production. It is to be an Indiana Jones re-make and is out next Saturday.

It will be called 'Dave Jones: Raiders Of The Lost Doritos.'

In it, our heroes must go to the homeland of Doritos manufacturers, Walkers and face a confrontation at their base, The Walkers Stadium, against their arch nemesis, Midland rivals, Leicester City.

In this sequel, they will be hoping to come away unscathed, with three points and a box of Cheesy Doritos!

I'm not too sure about the genre but I hope it’s not a Horror! Instead let's hope that the fairytale continues in our quest for The Holy Grail!
