Even Danielle Lloyd won't make a trip to Hull more attractive

Or maybe not? As we enter February things look bleak around Molineux following poor form and limited transfer dealings. Wolves sit bottom after Zubar's howler against Bolton and with the transfer window shut, we may have missed our chance to alter our fate. With the addition of a young winger, a whippersnapper striker from Scotland, a third choice goalkeeper and a Spurs reserve midfielder a lot of fans are perplexed with the dealings from the normally transfer acute trio of McCarthy, Moxey and Morgan.

As I watched the deadline day drama unfold on TV, Twitter and the internet, I gave up on Wolves' activity; McCarthy runs a tight ship and is incredibly loyal (too loyal) to his current crop, so any marquee season-saving signing was never reality. But as proposed previously, it would have been encouraging to have blown the budget in a last chance gung-ho effort to ensure Premier League stature.

As players checked in for medicals up and down the country, teams around us took heed and begged, stole and borrowed players to express ambition and a willingness to alter faltering seasons. Keane, Vela, Martins, Gudjohnsen, Sturridge, Ireland, Muntari, Carew, Wheater, Bentley, and Bridge have all moved on loan or on the cheap and could have added something to a stumbling Wolves side.

Debates rage on various forums right now; some blame Mick, many blame Moxey, while others remain ever loyal to the three M's and request trust. Of course there are still plenty of points to play for and hopefully O'Hara and Hammill have enough in their locker to help turn our season round but we're left despairing that so much more could have been done - last night's defeat at Bolton further evidence that we are simply not good enough right now. Last season our change in form was due to a new formation that added security and fight. Unsurprisingly opponents are now wise to our differing tactics, and come this weekend they will be taking to the field with the players that should have been on our radar. Let's hope that come May we're not left regretting the misery of the month just passed.  It's a lot more miserable in The Championship.
