Jones running out of time to diffuse the Molineux promotion time bomb.

Another inconsistent performance, and apparently a very poor one at that, has left fans once again questioning Dave Jones’ credentials to get us out of this forsaken division.

With Reading winning on Monday night, 7th place is the ominous position we find ourselves in.

Once again fans hopes had been raised by a 6 match unbeaten run and another 3 points seemed on the cards on the south coast.

However, the players switched off big-style and got an embarrassing spanking from the hosts.

With League matches coming thick and fast in the next two months it really is make or break for Jones regardless of the duration on his contract.

With Portsmouth and Leicester already looking odds-on for the two automatic promotion places, it leaves 4 spots up for grabs from a challenging pack of about 10 teams.

We are all too aware of our inability when it comes to the play-offs but a finishing spot outside the top six would be a disastrous end to the season.

The F.A. Cup is a pleasant distraction, that brings financial relief, but with the likes of Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea in the competition, we aren’t going to win it.

Jones, like his predecessors, seems to be unable to repeat back-to-back promotion pushes. Taylor and McGhee failed to lift the gloom post-playoff defeat.

Jones has tasted play-off defeat once; however, he needs to at least repeat qualification for him to have a chance of starting a third full season in charge at the Molineux.

Come on the Wolves!
