Ince return vital to Fulham game

Last updated : 20 February 2004 By Dave Burgess

Well, fans of other teams might reckon he’s past it but Wolves fans know the truth. Having seen the way we fell away in the second half at Leeds last week, it was evident to all we missed Incey really badly.

So the skipper returns for yet another vital home game. As it’s apparent that Jones can’t pick a side to play away from the Molineux, we now have to win as many of the remaining seven home games as is possible.

Also available will be the wayward Camara and hopefully Newts to restore some balance on the right hand side – surely replacing the mis-firing Miller.

So therefore, we should be starting with
4-4-2? Well, you never know with Jones, we all know that he loves to play Kennedy, despite him being a total luxury, so Camara might be on the bench.

I’d personally go for a starting line up of:

Oakes

Irwin, Butler, Craddock, Naylor

Newton, Ince, Rae, Camara

Cort, Ganea

I’d drop Paul ‘Calamity’ Jones after his amazing clangers at
Leeds and restore Oakes who was really unlucky to make way in the first place.

Hopefully, Cort’s fitness will have improved after his inevitably weary-legged display at Elland Road.

Then have Iversen, who scored in the week, Cameron, Miller, Jones and Luzhny on the bench.

As for Fulham, well they’re a good side but they’re not a great set of travellers themselves. Away from
Loftus Road they are beatable although they won’t be giving away any points. After steadying the ship since Saha’s sale, they’ve lost the ability to score as freely.

With a potential six-pointer (if tomorrow’s results are as expected) next week at
Leicester we need to make up some ground on our own turf.

We then have another week’s respite before the visit of unlikely Champions League contenders Villa, come to the Molineux.

Therefore, there’s plenty of time for the team and manager to get their collective heads around where 20 more points are going to come from if we are to survive.

Let’s just hope we can do enough tomorrow to get all three and reduce that target to 17 instead!

I certainly think we can do it – it’s down to the lads to prove my confidence is well placed.

Come on the Wolves!
